In November Urban participated in two important international trade fairs: the Batimat in Paris and the Interglas Fenestration in Columbus (USA) and confirmed the company’s position as the „Global Player“ of the industrial sector of window production. „In France as well as in North America we have extended our presence and achieved an excellent contact quality“, explained Reinhard Kreißl, Sales Manager of Urban.

In 2004, of course, we will be at your disposal at all important trade fairs of the industrial sector of window production. The Fensterbau/Frontale in March/April in Nürnberg will be the highlight of these trade fairs. But already in January things are really happening on the international level: the Polyclose in Gent, the Budma in Poland or Windows Doors Profiles in Kiev: Urban is at your disposal all over the world. The new SV 430 of Urban
Once more there’s been an addition to the family of our corner cleaning machines: The technicians of Urban developed the new CNC corner cleaning machine SV 430 with inner corner cleaning allowing the machining of profiles within a cycle of about two minutes. The SV 430 completes the existing successful model SV 420 and additionally has been equipped with a more stable and more quiet rail guide, faster axes, a new arrangement of tools and a new turning device. At the SV 430 the tools no longer move individually to the frame or to the sash but in a well-devised line arrangement. „With this the machining is more stable and faster, because the separate transports have become unnecessary“, explains Reinhard Kreißl, Sales Manager of Urban. Additionally at the SV 430 the workpiece is no longer fed in pneumatically when turning but is fed in and discharged via a servo axes. That’s why all workpieces irrespective of weight and size can be machined in the same gentle way.
New copy router of Rapid
Our partner in questions of saws, Rapid Maschinenbau GmbH from Ofterdingen near Tübingen has put on the market a new copy router. The BF 100 has an olive drilling unit and is a useful completion of Rapid-Urban`s range of products. Not only for the BF 100 but also for their other saws and machining centres Rapid sees good sales prospects worldwide. Exportation has already a share of 80 % of sales, with an upward trend.

For Urban a successful business year goes by. „We expect to come up to our high sales level of last year once more at the end of 2003. That’s why we are very satisfied with the course of the year“, says Manager Martin Urban. Particularly positive for Urban is the advancement of the German market during the last months. „Inspite of the generally lamented restraint of investments we received interesting orders stating that the market advances again. That’s an obviously positive signal for the end of the year.
Urban becomes bigger and bigger
Each year Urban GmbH&Co. has to cope with problems concerning space.
In 2003 for example the site in Memmingen once more grew by buying a piece of land where we will build a new hall of 850 m_ during the next months. As a result there’s an impressive area worldwide which assumed the below mentioned dimensions in the meantime:
Urban Europe (Memmingen and Forchach) 27,925 m_
Urban North America (Cambridge, Tualatin and Fredericton) 12,780 m_
Total 40,705 m2
New issue of FORUM OKNA
Fresh from the press and just in time before the Budma in Poland the new issue of FORUM OKNA, the specialised magazine in four languages for window production came out in December. „On more than 220 pages we summarised once more a lot of special information about the window manufacturers in the East“, explains the responsible editor Ingo Jensen. As it contains not only general information and news about the specific economic situation but also a lot of information about companies, FORUM OKNA has become a must for all window manufacturers in Eastern Europe.
